FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – The Suburban Hockey Foundation is proud to announce that applications of two grants are now available on suburbanhockeyfoundation.org. The Suburban Hockey Foundation contributes to the growth of hockey in Michigan by providing financial support and assistance to hockey families in need throughout the state.
The two grants include: The Assist Grant for Girls Hockey Players & The Assist, a hardship grant for families. In four seasons, we have now assisted 75 players with $40,180 in Assist Grants. The Assist Grants were created to provide financial assistance for families in need. Hardships may include but are not limited to death of a family member, major accident, acute illness, loss of a job, etc.
The NHL Foundation U.S., in partnership with Olympic gold medalist Megan Keller, recently awarded a $50,000 Empowerment Grant for Girls Hockey to the Suburban Hockey Foundation. The funding will support The Assist Grant for Girls Hockey Players, a new hardship assistance program designed to help girls’ hockey families throughout Michigan remain involved in the sport during times of significant financial hardship. The program will provide financial assistance to families facing circumstances such as job loss, serious illness, death of an immediate family member, major accident, or other unforeseen hardships that impact a player’s ability to continue participating in hockey. Applications will be accepted through September 11, 2026, with recipients notified by October 2, 2026.
Applications for The Assist Grant will be received until September 11, 2026. Recipients of a 2026-27 grant will be notified by October 16, 2026. Grant details and applications are available at suburbanhockeyfoundation.org.
